Service Description

A midline vascular access device is a type of peripheral IV catheter that is inserted into a large vein in the arm using an ultrasound for guidance. It is used to administer medications, fluids, and blood products and can also be used for blood sampling. It is typically longer than a standard peripheral IV and will usually measure between 8 and 20cm. The tip of the midline terminates in a large upper arm vessel. A midline can be used for several days up to one month depending on the duration of therapy.
